AfricaPress-Tanzania: FAMILY of the founder father of the nation, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere has urged Tanzanians to maintain peace and tranquility as the country heads to the General Election on October 28th, 2020.
The pledge was made on Tuesday by a spokesman of the family, Chief Japheti Wanzagi in Butiama District, Mara Region, while commemorating the 21st anniversary since the passing away of Mwalimu.
Chief Wanzagi said that since the country is heading to the election all people in the country should understand the value of cherishing peace.
He said that since the late Mwalimu Nyerere managed to unify all tribes in the country, election is not supposed to divide them, adding: “We should not be divided based on our ideology, religion, tribes and geographical location, because any such attempt will lead our people into trouble. “Let all eligible voters turn out on the election date to vote their credible leaders, who will lead us to prosperity, while maintaining our peace and solidarity.”
On his part, son of Mwalimu Nyerere, Mr Madaraka Nyerere said that Tanzanians have to read the history of Mwalimu, to understand more on what he believed and stood for during his life time.
He said that young generation, who were born after the death of Mwalimu should be proud to read his literature and listen to his speeches and learn what the founding father of the nation stood for.
