Ex-Bauchi council chairman defects to APC from PDP over alleged poor treatment

Africa-PressNigeria. A former Chairman of Kirfi Local Government Area of Bauchi State Alhaji Bappa Danmalikin Bara, on Tuesday, defected from the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing his defection to the opposition party while addressing journalists in Bauchi, Bara said he dumped PDP due to the unfair treatment meted on him by the state governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.

According to the former council chairman, the governor suspended him when he was a caretaker chairman for 10 months without a fair hearing.

He stated that he was actively involved in the electioneering ahead of the 2019 elections through which the governor came to power, adding that he equally contributed his time and experience in selling PDP to the electorate.

He said that despite his contributions, he was unfairly treated, adding that having consulted his people, he decided to dump PDP for APC.

“I was one of the active supporters of PDP during the 2019 electioneering during which I contributed my time, energy and experience in promoting the political ideals but at the end, I was treated unfairly.

“Looking at the political trend in the country and after due consultations with my people and other political associates, I decided to decamp from my party PDP to APC as from today, 17th November 2020,” the former chairman said.

He, however, expressed gratitude to his supporters and associates for their understanding and cooperation.

“I also wish to use this medium to thank my political supporters and other associates for their understanding, patience and cooperation throughout the hard times we had together.”

He said his defection to APC was to protect the interest of his supporters and his political career, rather than sabotaging anyone.
